Today is going to be a pretty simple lesson but it’s critical to know where you stand.
Today you need to look over your entire website and make sure it looks great.
You need to specifically make sure you have the following:
- A logo that looks nice
If your theme does not allow a logo or a header I would consider getting one that does. If you don’t want one that’s fine too, but, in my opinion it adds a more professional element to your website.
- Content that is neat and organized
Make sure you have ample spacing for your content. Keep it as free of spelling errors and mistakes as possible. Look nobody is perfect, in fact you’ll probably find mistakes all through my writing, but, it shouldn’t ruin the experience.
- Content that makes sense for your reader
Remember good content should help your reader, answer their questions and be relevant. The writing, videos, images should all contribute to the users overall experience and should be long enough to take care of their needs.
- Sidebars free of clutter
No excessive advertisements everywhere; well, not unless you want people to actually buy from you anyway. Keep the sidebar light on ads and make sure you show your recent posts n the sidebar area. Remember if you need help visit my blogging course and you can get it free to get (enter: GETITFREE ) here is the course, it’s yours as a member of Niche60.
- Images and Affiliate Links
Content should contain images as well as affiliate links to purchase products through you. I also try to have at least 1 image and an affiliate link near the top of each post I write. This will help increase conversions and sales. While we are discussing affiliate links, remember you should NEVER promote anything to your audience that does not make sense for your readers. I.e. promoting a “make money” product on a site about dog care is probably not going to convert.
Your site needs them, if you’re not building them, you won’t rank in the search engines at all. Revert back to the Link Building Lessons if you need them and haven’t built them yet.
- Policy, Sitemap Links To The Footer
If you’re using a theme where you can move policy links to the footer do it. If not at least get them in the bottom of your sidebar. Often times people just leave these at the top of the page, yuck. Not only will this distract your readers/buyers it will also hurt conversions.
Action: Make sure your site looks clean, neat, relevant and most of all ask yourself honestly “Would I buy from this site?” If you honestly answer YES, you’re good to move on. If you said no, fix it.
