Anchor text is text that is included in a hyperlink.
A hyperlink as you know is a link that can be on any webpage that takes a visitor to another web page or even a totally different website all together.
When we are link building for our websites or even linking to someone else we want to use anchor text to tell the potential visitor and the search engines what is on the other side of that link.
It’s also a way to get your readers to take action.
First, let me demonstrate what anchor text is.
- This is a raw URL: www.niche60.com
- This is a hyperlink with anchor text: Niche 60
This anchor text can be anything you want it to be, including the URL itself.
Both go to the same place, but, anchor text again, tells the reader where they are about the go or gets them to take action.
Here is more of an action Hyperlink with anchor text:
The anchor text above is “Click here to see Niche 60”
So where do you use anchor text?
Anywhere you want. If you want to send your readers to another website, through your affiliate links or wherever you want to send them, you can.
It can be used in your post or sidebar.
Here’s How To Create Anchor Text In A Blog Post
Highlight the text you want to create anchor text for .
Then in your post sink select the link chain command.
This will bring up a box that looks like this.
In the URL box put the site you want to send someone. This can be an affiliate link or simply another location on your site that you want to send people.
If you want a new browser to open when someone clicks, check this box. This is good if you do not want someone to completely leave your website.
Click the Add Link button and you’re done!
What Do you Do If You Need To Use Anchor Text Somewhere The Requires HTML?
Sometimes when you are doing link building or just adding your site to other sites you might need to use HTML to add anchor text if the link command option isn’t available.
That’s OK! It’s easy to do.
Rather than reexplain this though I’ll let the pros teach you here.
See how easy that is? Plus, above I used the anchor text “teach you here” to send you to their website.
You’ll want to understand this or go through their tutorial when you start link building if you’re unsure how to do it.
